We had a big decision to make, it was our Silver Anniversary after all! We almost went to Dubai but soon realised that it would have been Ramadan when we were there which would have had lots of restrictions…we will defo go another time!
It wasn’t really hard to pick a place after this, it HAD to be NYC!
We stayed at The Tuscany Hotel on E 39th Street, it was fabulous! On arrival there was a room upgrade and Champagne for us, all organised by my wonderful Mum.
We done tours of Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall they were both fantastic and we were not sure why we hadn’t done them before!
Another thing we had never done, walked all the way across the Brooklyn Bridge! We started the afternoon over in the DUMBO area drinking cocktails and eating pizza in Grimaldis. Then fished the day strolling across the bridge - it was the perfect day!
We found a lovely place to have lunch (Mighty Quinns) and people watch, Brookfield Place at the North Cove Marina, near The Freedom Tower.
We visited the 9/11 Memorial Pools and also the 9/11 Memorial Museum, both of which were very moving.
I was very impressed with the architecture of the new World Trade Centre Metro Station. It is like a huge pair of white wings. I obviously took a million photos of it!
For our Anniversary Dinner, we went to Blue Smoke, a slightly up-market BBQ place on E.27th Street. It was totally perfect for us as we didn’t want anything tooo fancy!
We found a great little place for breakfast and people watching! Zucker's Bagels.
While we were there, we went to a recording of Good Morning America and saw all the usual presenters along with their guest that day, Kevin Hart. We even appeared on TV! (see photos below).
Two more firsts for us – we walked The Highline and visited Chelsea Market. If we are fortunate to visit NYC in the future, we will always walk the Highline as its pretty special – a park walkway running up the old highline railway from approx. 14th – 34th Street. What an amazing thing it is!
