New York City, New York – Jun 2004

Updated: Jan 20, 2019

We decided to go to our favourite city for our Anniversary! We stayed on Broadway nr Macys. This time we made a conscious effort to stay away from many of the tourist attractions and bought neighbourhood walking guides. Best thing we ever done! We saw the real NYC, ate were the locals ate etc.

Two great restaurants were Pellegrino's in Little Italy and the Brick Lane Curry House in the East Village. A great place for breakfast and lunch is Speedy's of W 32nd Street.

It was very sad to see “ground-zero” and still hard to comprehend that the buildings had gone with such a huge loss of life.

For our anniversary dinner, we went to Robert De Niro’s restaurant, The Tribeca Grill. This has to be one of my favourite meals of all time. What an atmosphere the place has. It’s full of high-rolling finance types and you can just people watch for hours on end. The food was great too of course! The restaurant is filled with the artwork of Robert De Niro Snr. The only time you know there is a connection to the actor himself is when you need to visit the loo! The staircase and corridors are filled with his movie posters – loved it!
